“Preferences” and “About” not showing up in Google Desktop Search.
Today I have installed Google Desktop Search on my laptop with Windows XP Home SP2. I have added a lot of Gadgets to my sidebar. Very nice look. But then comes a problem, I clicked on “Preferences” and nothing happened. The same problem was with “About”. I have restarted Google Desktop, than I have restarted my computer but all was in vein. I have also turned off firewall. Than I have search a lot on internet but could not found any solution. I have also browse Google Desktop help but it was not worth. Than I have tried to found the solution and finally –
My default browser was Firefox 2.0 so I have make Internet Explorer my default browser and to my great surprise everything was working fine. I could see the “Preferences” as well as “About”. After that once again I have made Firefox my default browser and now everything is working well.
Although I have found the solution but still can’t understand why it was happening. It is first time I have experience a problem with any product from Google. May be somebody can clarify all this. I am waiting…………….
